    1. Much better than the previous installment, because all three protagonists act much more believably as schoolgirls of 15 or so. They get into scrapes and pile up demerits under a much less sympathetic temporary headmistress--beyond saying that their beloved Miss Peyton is "ill" we don't really know what happened to keep her away from the school for more than a year. Even Page's Little Miss Perfect crown falls off, but she does repeat a very bad original poem about Santa Claus twice word for word [...]
