    2. Continuing my trend of reading female star (auto)biographies, I read Sophia Loren’s autobiography, Sophia, Living and Loving. I recently watched Houseboat, which stars Loren and Cary Grant and I was reminded how really gorgeous both of those actors were. I knew that they had had a torrid love affair while filming The Pride and the Passion (it’s a terrible movie – don’t watch it) and I am a bit ashamed to admit that my desire to read this book was motivated by a salacious curiosity! Which [...]

    3. Although written by a professional author, this book reads much as I believe Sophia Loren would have written it herself. It truly gives some insight (although filtered) into the "who" of this woman I admire. I also found several thoughts, some new - some old, worded in such a way that I find value in keeping them in my book of quotes.Considering Ms. Loren came from a past that I cannot even imagine, I find her conviction and self-belief admirable as well as inspirational. Definitely worth the ei [...]

    4. Sophia Loren has lived a very turbulent lifembings and raids as a child in Italy during WWIIe Catholic Church using her as the epitome of what's wrong with the worldmiscarriagesher sister marrying into the Mussolini familyltiple thefts and fire. Also, she was proposed to by Cary Grant. She does speak at length about her long and beautiful relationship to Carlos Ponti, who at the time the book was written in 1979, she had been with for 20 years. I love that! Great book!!!

    5. I read this in 1979 just before I saw her on the Phil Donahue Show. The book was really fascinating, but I was stunned when I met her. She was more beautiful in person than I'd ever thought she was from seeing her in filmsd she was so tiny! I was stunned by how petite she was. Always a fan, I became a bigger fan after reading the book and meeting her.

    6. Absolutely fascinating read, Sophia proves to be an inspiring and very wise individual who has lived of both great success and deep misery. It's a shame this book is no longer being published, I'll treasure my copy.
