    1. Beauty of the Beast was a bit slow in the beginning but once you get passed some of the grammatical errors the story comes alive. The author make you feel for the vampires. Viktoria is smart but is tortured or confused. She's been trying to fit in somewhere and has finally finds her place even though its the dark world but she feels a home. Its fun following her through her adventures even a bit scary and strange at times but a great story. I thought the Christopher and Yolanda part was heartbre [...]

    2. 3. 5 starsThis book totally deserved a 5 star rating. So why did I give it only 3.5 stars? Before you judge if you're going to pick up this book or not based on my review, let me tell you that my own reservations did not stop me from flipping its pages. Beauty of the Beast is actually a Croation book titled 'U anđeoskom liku zvijeri'. Yes, this is the first of its publication in English and probably the reason why I had issues with its grammar, spelling, tenses, and lack-of quotation marks. The [...]

    3. This was a very good book. The writing was beautiful (at least the parts I could understand): so why did I give it four out of five stars? #1: Language BarrierThe things that really and truly bothered me were the numerous amounts of grammar, spelling, punctuation and mechanic errors throughout the book. This annoyed me so much that at one point I had to put down the book entirely and start over. In some cases books are translated beautifully . . . this is not one of those cases. The overall plot [...]

    4. Captivating, Tragic, Beautiful Vampire StoryBy becca on December 29, 2015Format: PaperbackI thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I've read some other vampire lit in the past, and always felt the characters fell a bit flat. In this story, the characters are complicated, well-developed, and surprising. Faust makes them come alive, literally, and vampires of this story are vibrant and captivating. She really makes you empathize with the vampires, and I've never quite had that experience reading va [...]

    5. With Beauty of the Beast, Viktoria Faust has taken on the vampire genre with her own unique twist. Instead of Victorian-era London or the wilds of 19th century Romania, Faust wrote her tale in war-torn Croatia of the 1990s. Faust makes her story personal, even naming her protagonist, “Viktoria”. Under her skilled hands, Beauty of the Beast is a woven into a dark tale of survival and self-awareness. The tale is taunt and compact with beautiful atmospheric touches, a different look at the vamp [...]

    6. Intense and thought provoking! This first-person vampire novel is full of emotion and complexity. I wasn't sure to cheer or heckle the main protagonist Viktoria, as she's incredibly complex and full of raw emotion. The book is filled with her doubts and failings as well as certainties and triumphs. The story moves through her strange life that's filled with seductive vampires. She's both drawn and repulsed by them which seems like a very human response. The end was very surprising as well. This nove [...]

    7. This is quite a different vampire story. The setting for the first part of novel is wartime Croatia, and as the story unfolds characters roam through Europe, reliving only bits and pieces of the puzzle of a storyline. The base line is a relationship between the two main characters that builds through the novel until the inevitable end. There is too much abusive contact in their relationship to call this a love story, but their feelings for each other is obvious. The growth of each character and [...]

    8. This book was outside the genre I typically read, but wow, what a book. I loved the concept of vampires in a war background. As she started her adventurous journey with one of the vampires, it stopped my heart and I couldn't wait what was to happen next. As much a restless soul Viktoria is, she is also someone who wouldn't fear for her life if she sets her mind to something. The beauty of this book is that even in this background, the author is able to weave an amazing tale of heartbreaking sadn [...]

    9. A well written story about a woman that gets caught up in the world of vampires. Tragic and touching. I enjoyed reading every page. The depiction of the way the vampires view humans, of the way the main character views the vampires and the world, of the inner struggle between saving human lives vs saving the vampires, filled the book with emotions and depth. I hope to see more people read it. This book is worth it.

    10. This book had me gripped from start to finish. There was so many twists and dark scenes that I thoroughly enjoyed. The main character was complex and I fell in love with the story as it went on. The dark and light merged and became one, there was good in dark characters, love where there should be none, and tragic scenes. I highly recommend this book to fans of the fantasy genre and pretty much anyone else! I loved this story and I will read it again without hesitation.

    11. I love good vampire story. Not the kind where vampires go to school for centuries or laminate about meaning of life. I mean, good, honest vampire story, with stakes and crosses and everything. I didn't find any stakes/crosses in this book, but it was one good vampire story. Like to see if there will be more.

    12. This is classic girl meats boy kind of book. Except, he is not really a boy, and she is not ordinary girl. And this is not love story. More of hate story, spiced with blood attraction. These vampires remind me of the A. Rice’s but not so lost in philosophizing about the meaning of life. Book is long, but I was soon taken away with story, and after first chapters pages fly!

    13. Beauty of the Beast by Viktoria Faust I loved this Vampire Novel by Viktoria Faust. I never read anything like it before. It is a lengthy Novel, so mysterious. I can't quite put my finger on the feelings I felt while reading Beauty of the Beast. It was an unnerving feeling as if on the verge of scary, an ethereal feeling, not quite sure but it was good. The story is told through a woman named Viktoria, so in depth, poetic as if I could feel her thoughts. Viktoria is an unbelievable character, wi [...]

    14. I'm not quite sure how I found this book, but, I'm glad I did. I've only read a few vampire books. This one is unlike any other vampire story I've read before. Written in first person narrative, it is like a memoir. The author even used her pen name for her protagonist, making it more authentic as a memoir. The internal war raging within the main character makes this such a cerebral tale. The life and death of the human, the resurrection to an immortal vampire, all the pros and cons are contempl [...]

    16. Viktoria is a young lady who is different than other people. Perhaps you could say she has a sixth sense; so when she finds herself among vampires she is fascinated by them. She begins to immerse herself into their world knowing very well she may not come out alive.Beauty of the Beast is unlike anything I have read in quite a while. First let me say that the book was originally written in Croatian, so there are some grammatical errors in the translation. What I liked about the book is that it is [...]

    17. Beauty of the Beast generally follows the traditional gothic genre of vampire stories, although a few twists are added in. The protagonist of the story, a young woman named Viktoria, finds herself drawn deeper and deeper into the realm of the vampires, sometimes fearing them, but always being drawn to them. As the story progresses, she is drawn deeper and deeper into their realm, until the story ends with its final climax.Victoria Faust spins this tale using vivid imagery, and captivating descri [...]

    18. For anyone who likes a good, old-fashioned vampire story, this is for you. A proper, Gothic romp. The author is not British, but from Crotia I believe. English is not her first language and that is obvious from the writing, but as the book is set in Eastern Europe, her use of the language adds an air of Transylvanian authenticity to it. This book very much reminded me of "Interview with the Vampire", so for anyone who loves works by Anne Rice, I would highly recommend this one Definitely somethi [...]

    20. CNF ~ Could Not FinishThe premise for Viktoria’s journey is exciting - a promising new story set in a world in which vampires are real. Read full review in the 2016 July/August issue of InD'tale Magazine.
