    1. Great short read, I thoroughly enjoyed this cop story which was quite stylish and wonderfully paced. I read it in one session and from the opening paragraph it had me entertained. Witty and well plotted, here is a short book that demonstrates how such concise pieces should be written. It is difficult to create and develop characters in the confines of what is little more than an extended short story but Silas Payton has made a fine job of it. The story line is quite clever and substantial enough [...]

    2. I was swithering between 4 and 5 stars for White Lady. It is a great introduction to Inspector Bill Roberts but I feel Silas Payton could have made his presence/character stronger. This story was the ideal opportunity to make Roberts stand out. Nothing detracted me from Jack Daniels and Herb's humour. Silas Payton is good with the quips and tongue- in- cheek humour. White Lady is a short story told brilliantly.

    3. An enjoyable fun story. The process of reading through a story is always a surprising one for me. In this instance it was a pleasure to again feel the humor and interaction of Jack Daniels and her partner Herb before future events in Joe Konrath's later books. Not in the sense that I regret how they developed later on, but more like smiling-memories of characters I was familiar with and fond of.This is my first read of one of Silas' books, and I think he did a remarkable job of capturing that rel [...]

    4. An enjoyable, fast paced read. This is a 15K word short story about a planned bomb attack on a hotel conference. Suspense and tension are built well by the use of short chapters alternating between the main characters points of view. The writing is sharp and crisp and includes all the important details in the hours leading up to the bomb's detonation (or not!).I often find without the length of a full novel characters are not fully developed. Payton gave some of his characters odd little quirks t [...]

    5. Good quick read :) I enjoyed this book because of me reading some about Jack Daniels here recently. What woman doesn't like a kick butt woman as a main character??? It was also my first read from the "kindle worlds" and I really enjoyed it. I look forward to more reads like this and also more from the author Silas Payton

    6. Even the Title is a StretchUnfortunately I read Paralyzed before White Lady. There was really no comparison. Paralyzed was far superior in every respect. This novella just didn't have the same thriller element and the characters never jumped off the pages. I will expect better of Mr. Payton next time.
