    1. Daddy read this book to me, and we were both left feeling a little meh about this book. It was just so-so. I expected a lot more from a book that’s been on the New York Times Bestselling Children’s Picture Book List for 116 weeks (yes over two years!!!!) Though I really did like the page with the red balloon on it. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I think red might be becoming my favourite colour!

    2. Sweet illustrations with an even sweeter message. A modern take on "Oh the Places You Will Go" for a younger audience.

    3. I am in huge danger of dehydrating after reading this. Is this one of the sweetest books ever or has becoming a mother turned me to mush? I just adored this. What is such a simple concept and a thought that comes into every parent's mind, Emily Winfield Martin has turned into a celebration of children's natures and personalities. It is about becoming a parent and that amazing, intense and all-consuming love a parent feels for their child. It makes you wonder about the possibilities and really cel [...]

    4. "When you were too small To tell me hello, I knew you were someone I wanted to know. "For all of your tininess Couldn't disguiseA heart so enormous . . . And wild . . . And wise."The Wonderful Things You Will Be (2015) by Emily Winfield Martin is the rare picture book that truly has something for everyone. This thoughtful, quiet story imagines all of the things little ones (both babies and bigger kids) will grow up to be including creative and clever as well as brave and bold.Martin's rhyming te [...]

    5. If you are not yet familiar with Emily Winfield Martin’s books or illustrations, you should become so. Filled with a whimsical and vintage-ethereal artistic style (if that’s not a style, it should be), Martin creates a love letter to the child reader and to the possibilities he or she will become.

    6. Here's your next go-to New Baby or shower gift. And you will be happy to give it. Emily Martin's retro-sweet style walks that perfect line - hipsters think it's hipster and grandmas think it's old-fashioned. Extra credit for babies on the endpapers and toddlers in superhero masks.

    7. This is a stunning book that is the perfect baby shower gift. As a mama, this captures the love I have for my children and the dreams I have for them. I can see why it is so popular, and I will be gifting it over and over again.

    8. Beautiful message and beautiful images. This one should be a prime graduation gift for anyone from preschool to college, much like "Oh, the Places You'll Go!".

    9. A wonderful read for all parents or parents to be. A child is a gift of life and potential, the most mysterious yet beautiful in the making.

    10. Beautiful illustrations to go along with a beautiful story. Loved this adorable picture book. It made my mommy self a bit teary.

    11. Martin, E.W. (2015). Wonderful things you will be. New York, NY: Random House Children's Books.Review #1Yesowitch, M. L. (2015, June 1). [Review of The wonderful things you will be by E. W. Martin.] (School Library Journal, vol 61, issue 6, p74) Retrieved by NoveList Plus Database.Yesowitch talks about how this book is reminiscent of Dr. Seuss's Oh, The Places You'll Go, but is written in a more simplified way. Yesowitch mentions that the word choice is limited, but accessible to preschool aged [...]

    12. This book is beautiful and has a wonderful rhyme that expresses the thoughts and feelings parents have when they think of their child. Not only do the beautiful pictures in this book make it engaging for children, but the front cover also portrays the image of a child. On one hand the cover represents the freedom a child may have to become what they want, on the other hand the heights that they can reach to.This book is ideal for story time as it creates a calm and relaxing atmosphere and sends [...]

    13. I checked this one out because I adore the cover. The illustrations inside are just as gorgeous and fanciful. I'm not a mom (yet) but I can just imagine reading this one with my future child - what wonderful things will they be when they grow up? A book about all the amazing possibilities a child has. The Wonderful Things You Will Be is sweet, gentle, and lovely. And seriously, I could frame some of the illustrations. They're gorgeous.

    14. So saccharine you might vomit. It's basically a faux-retro, hipster take on Oh, The Places You'll Go!, and I don't necessarily mean that as an insult. If you can get over how impossibly twee the illustrations are, though, you'll notice that they're actually quite lovely!

    15. Raising, mentoring, and teaching children today is so extremely challenging with today's world because of so much uncertainly. This book will delight adults with its enormous message of hope and inspiration. Through the pages, the author illustrates that children can grow up to be whoever and whatever they want. Bravo!

    16. I truly love The Wonderful Things You Will Be. It is unlike all the other affirmation books available to children. The wonderful messages are given in a warm. loving and gentle way. A lovely book to read anytime but especially at bedtime. The illustrations are simply glorious. This is a must have picture book.

    17. Yup, another winner from Emily Winfield Martin - this one is a parent's verse to a child. This feels like a book I would have had as a kid, studying all the actions, costumes, and objects in the pictures to figure out what they meant.

    18. This is the closest I have seen to a classic "Little Golden Book" in a while. Very charming and nostalgic, and a delightful read. The little girl in the super-hero mask is priceless, and all the children's faces are very expressive Loved this book.

    19. Such a sweet, sweet book! Beautiful text and lovely illustrations. It's a wonderful book to read and think about all the endless possibilities of the little humans in your life. Soft spoken, gentle, simply beautiful all around!

    20. This is a cute little book that I enjoyed reading to my daughter. The text is lighthearted but heartfelt and the illustrations are perfectly whimsical, as well as all-inclusive! The gatefold for the second to last page made me miss the ending page on my first read, however. Oops!

    21. The book is adorable but not very attractive to children. It is actually a beautiful letter to them that will melt any parents' heart. As other reviews say, it makes a lovely baby shower gift!

    22. This is a book decidedly for grown-ups. Baby shower gift? Sure, the parents will love it. But this is a snooze-fest for children.

    23. Sweetly whimsical in the true Emily Winfield Martin style we have all fallen in love with. Side note: Emily once lived in Athens, so her picture books are extra special to us here!
