    1. I found this to be a very powerful and moving story. John and Riley are around the bonfire with other friends, Riley has been drinking but John has this rule, he never drinks before a wrestling tournament. All he wants to do is take Riley home and tuck her safely into bed.On the way home there is an awful accident in which Riley is killed. At the opening of this read you are thrown, literally thrown right into it. The collision that happened in the back is a collision course you too find yourself [...]

    2. Though this book has a lot of characters in it, the story is mainly about three high school students: Megan, Charley, and John Hawk. Megan and Charley have been best friends for a long time, and John is new to their school and their small town. Even though John has a bit of a secret past, he's a good looking guy and, after Megan tries to get Charley to go out with him - with no luck - she sets her eyes on him for herself. One night at prom and everything changes. Megan is missing and then found [...]

    3. I really enjoyed this story. I'd put this in the young adult category. I'd certainly recommend it to the younger readers.Haven't we all felt guilty at some stage in our lives? The weight of the guilt can certainly get us down? When I read the title I thought yes I'm definitely interested in reading this story.John is overwhelmed with guilt. He moves away to live with his sister for a fresh start. Unfortunately the guilt doesn't go away. What happens when he's accused of a murder? His past comes [...]

    4. The Weight of Guilt by Jon Ripslinger is a 2015 Red Adept Publishing release. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is a solid YA mystery thriller centered around John Hawk, an eighteen year old high school senior who has moved in with his sister to finish out the last semester of school, after a horrific car crash takes the life of his girlfriend, Riley. John tries to keep to himself, keep his head down, and stay out of trouble. He is all tied up in knots ove [...]

    5. I received the book from the author for an honest review. This was truly a suspense filled book with enough drama to keep your attention. The characters were believable and very human with all their flaws a brilliant attempt to deliver a well thought out story with intrigue. John Hawk's character touched me deeply and I really felt for him as he struggled to make sense of his life and the bad things that persistently followed him throughout his high school. Even though he tried to flee his "curse [...]

    6. This is my first read by Jon Ripslinger. Fantastic! So many import issues discussed. The story was face paced and the characters were well devoloped and very likable. I look so very forward to reading more by this author. ** I was provided a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. 5/5 **cross posted to My Reading Reality

    7. Review originally posted on Books and Ladders.Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.I thought, at first, that this book was more of a coming of age novel, but boy was I wrong. It was a thriller in which the hot, popular girl gets murdered after a night out with the new boy with the troubled past. The novel and plot itself were good -- but not great. At first, I liked that it rotated between Charly's and John's points of view, but it didn't add [...]

    8. I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review3.5 starsThe Weight of Guilt is an intense, heavy read-- I think the title is very appropriate. The mystery was told in first person from the alternating viewpoints of John Hawk and Charley Cotton. I really liked John, felt such pain for what he'd endured. Charley, I liked her, but didn't understand or connect with her much. She was a likable character, loyal to her best friend, sweet, intelligent, but for some reason, I enjoyed [...]

    9. Arc received for an honest reviewI really enjoyed this Story. It's a Powerful and touching story. The author keeps the reader on the edge with all the guessing and trying to solve the Mystery but there is way more to the story than anyone can EVER expect. The first half of the story is a bit slower in pace but once in the second half things speed up.I love that the story is told from multiple points of view, mostly John's and this adds to the mystery and suspense of the story. All the Characters a [...]

    10. I was lucky to get a copy of this from net galley .That was an incredibly enjoyable read.I was taken in by the characters and i loved every second of it.

    11. After reading my first young adult mystery a few months ago, I've been hooked on the genre, trying to channel a little Veronica Mars, novel-style. The Weight of Guilt delivers. Told from dual points of view, Jon Ripslinger creates believable teen characters who are dealing with a lot. None of his characters have easy, carefree lives. John, one of his main characters, has had more crap in his short life than any kid should have to deal with. Even Charley, who has a decent home life, has to deal w [...]

    13. Driving home from a bonfire party, eighteen-year-old John Hawk crashes, killing his girlfriend, Riley. Bullied and tormented at school, and crushed by his guilty conscience, John transfers to a school on the banks of the Mississippi River, where he attracts the eye of the principal’s daughter, Megan. Though he’s reluctant, she convinces him to be her prom date. The morning after prom, Principal Jones reports Megan missing. Four days later, her body is recovered from the river, and John becom [...]

    14. This book intrigued me from the moment I saw the cover, and it didn’t disappoint. The story combines the mystery of a young girl’s murder with the thriller aspects of absolving a young man wrongly accused — and possibly framed — because of a past mistake. The author throws in a budding romance to boot which, for me, could have been left out but was not a game-changer. Overall, I was absorbed in the story and couldn’t put it down. The pace was quick, and I found the main characters appe [...]

    15. I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. When Charlie's best friend is found floating in the Mississippi, the obvious suspect is the new guy in town. After all, the last girl to leave a party with John also ended up dead. But Charlie knows that Megan was keeping secrets, and her gut tells her that the biggest threat in her small town is not John. The alternating narrative between Charlie and John, has appeal for both male and female readers, but it does resu [...]

    16. Kindle Copy for ReviewJohn Hawk teenage life is full of mistakes. He has a record for underage drinking to driving while intoxicated trouble just finds him. Recently he gotten into a car accident killing girlfriend while someone else crashed into them but people blame him thinking he was drinking. John soon became a target of bullying as even the dead girl’s brother kept sending him black roses. To get away from it all he moves to a small town where his sister lives with her young son for a ne [...]

    17. This book has a lot going on. It's a thriller, with a mystery (how did Megan die) at it's heart, and has a bit of romance and a coming-of-age vibe to boot. Themes revolving around personal responsibility, redemption, family, and friendship setup some subtle lessons for the reader who notices while keeping up a quick pace and ratcheting up the tension if you just want a thriller. The point-of-view character alternates between John and Charley giving us different takes on what is going on as we get [...]

    18. This my first read by Jon Riosinger ,which I am giving five stars as I could not put it down. The chapters are short and are written between John Hawk, Charley Cotton and Megan point's of view. It is a young adult novel which I didn't realize until i was a third of the way through, but never the less didn't bother me although you would I'm too old for this, category this is a romance mystery and thriller which keeps the reader guessing who did it? This I enjoyed. The characters are very likable.Jo [...]

    19. This is a YA book but can also easily be enjoyed by an older audience if you like a mystery we were all teenagers once & this reminded me of some of the turmoil faced at that time of life.Poor John doesn’t have much luck with the girls after a night out there is a car accident on the way home & Riley his girlfriend is killed. Finally moving on as youngsters do in the ‘handsome guy gets girls interested’ scenario the school prom is looming Charley & Megan think it would cheer [...]

    20. I received this book through Netgalley for an honest review. The Weight of Guilt was a book that I went in thinking I know this story and I already know who the murderer is. Little did I know how much of a ride this book would take me on. The mystery was actually really good, at first I thought I figured out who did it, but then the author would drop another clue and it would totally throw me off. The characters were all really well written, I didn't really see any clichés. My favorite characte [...]

    21. This book was a strange read for me. It had an interesting story line and for the most part I was engaged with the characters and the plot. Overall though, it just didn’t seem to fulfil it’s potential. It came across as amateurish in it’s delivery. The dialogue was stilted and the switching point of views were confusing. The ambience though, was slightly edgy and that lifted my opinion of the piece as a whole. Very Teenage Angst3 StarsReview abbreviated due to spoilers - see full review at [...]

    22. Couldn't put it downI absolutely loved this book, and it's been a long time since I've been able to say that. Fast-paced, with believable and appealing characters and a story that kept me reading late into the night. John Hawk is a flawed person unjustly accused of murder who immediately had me rooting for him. Charley is feisty and likable, clever and tough. The story is not predictable but ultimately makes sense. My one regret is that it's over. Now I'm going to have to find more books by this [...]

    23. This seems to be there year where over half the books I read I seem to find lacking something. This book could have been better. I actually really liked John Hawk a lot and Charlie Cotton was likable as well. I think the story just never seemed to take form properly. The mystery was way too easy to figure out. You knew who the culprit was as soon as Megan revealed her secret. I don't think I can really recommend it. I am rather disappointed that I have yet to find a book that has really captured [...]

    24. Very pleased with the way this book was written. Every young adult and up will really enjoy that book and relate in some format. The secrets that are behind the cover will keep you wandering as the plot of the story will keep you guessing. It's a page turner so be prepared for sleepless nights!*Received for an honest review*

    25. I received this book for free in return for an honest review.I really enjoyed this book. The story grabbed me from the beginning and kept my interest to the end. The plot was easy to follow, but the alternating POV between John and Charlie got a bit confusing toward the end when you weren’t sure which character was speaking. I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys mysteries.
