    1. SPOILERS AHEADI've been a fan of Sherrilyn's for YEARS! I've bought everything this women has ever released, I've been to KCON, and I have a tattoo based off her DH series. I'm a stan for anything this woman puts out, but I am seriously disappointed in her for this absolute waste of a book.1/3 of the book was original content. I'm not even joking. 2/3's of it was previous scenes from other books told from the POV of Bastien, but even then he barely added anything original to the scenes. Sure, we [...]

    2. I'm not quite sure what book most of the people on this site read, but it wasn't Born of Vengeance. I am truly upset and feel a bit betrayed by this book. I have been waiting for a whole year since BOL, which I absolutely loved, for Born of Vengeance to come out. This book was set up to be a great book with the way Bastien and Ember were introduced. It's really not. This book is mostly scenes from past books, written from the POV of the main character, Bastien. Any original content is choppy and [...]

    3. Bastien Cabarro is a prince. When he is accused of murdering his entire family by his Uncle and ex-wife, Bastien is sentenced to live the rest of his life as a Ravin who are people who are killed by the League. Can Bastien ever get his revenge on his Uncle for what he did and stay alive long enough to do so or is he meant to do something much greater? Read on and find out for yourself. This was a great installment of the League series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. If you enjoy space pirate science fiction [...]

    4. The only reason I didn't dnf this one is because I love the narrator. I'm done with this series. It's such a shame because when it first started it was a huge favorite of mine. This book was downright awful. One star awful. Even though I had to add a star for the narrator. The story jumped bits and pieces of time with no notice or introduction. It was the most annoying thing I've ever read. I was constantly trying to figure out "when" in time we were. The MC relationship made little to no sense. [...]

    5. 2/3 of the book is regurgitating events and scenes that took place in previous books word by words. The 1/3 that is new material is divided into two parts. The first part is how Bastien and Ember met and their history before they ended up on the run. That part was perfect. The pace was good. I was fully engaged with the characters. The second half of the new material is what took place after Born of Legend (The League, #9) ended. The action part was a disaster in my opinion. There wasn't enough [...]

    6. AFTER READING:SPOILERS AHEAD, BE WARNED!Sherrilyn Kenyon is a master of writting emotions, friendships and family dynamics.I liked Bastien's scenes with his son Florian. I liked Thia's bonus chapter in the end.On the other handShe pulled "Dragonmark" all over again. There was copied material from previus books which I didn't like. She also decided to kill Bastien's siblings: Quin and Lillian in the beginning. Then she introduces his half-brother Iskander and then she "Oh, his brother Quin is not [...]

    7. I’m having a hard time rating this book. I love The League books and Sherrilyn’s story telling. However, this book was very different from the others in this series. It reads more like a bunch of short stories connected by the very short story of Bastien and Ember. None of them is great. The book blurb is definitely misleading and I didn’t get the book I was expecting. The book starts with Bastien and Ember but jumps forward months and years leaving out large parts of their relationship an [...]

    8. After the last League book by Kenyon, I was really disappointed by this read. For about 70% it was a rehash of the other League books, with each MC from those books who interacted with Bastien in their books, telling Bastien's side of the story. The other 30% was the H and h together for a little bit at the beginning of the book setting up their story and at the end when they reunite. I just found myself reading through the book to finally get to the ending. The heroine's reasons for refusing to [...]

    9. Belongs to the following series: The League: Nemesis Rising #10, The League #12. Bastien Caberro is the third born of the Kirovarian emperor. When his family is slaughtered, he is accused of their deaths and instead of being executed, he is declared Ravin by The League. Which means he is tagged for the assassins. It is Bastien's goal to survive long enough to get his revenge on the true murderer. This takes place at the same time as other books in the series so there is a lot of scenes that are v [...]

    10. This book gets released on my birthday. :-).5 starsNice to see that Bastien got his own story. Glad he will be able to be happy with Ember. Happy they were able to stop Barnabas. Hope that Bastien will do well as emperor. Also hope to see more of the Sentella-League war. Also nice to see the bonus story at the end with Nyk and Jullien. Hope they will become brothers soon. Can't wait to read Born of Trouble!!!!

    11. This author has become lazy. Same story over and over. For the price it costs now I don't think SK is worth the money anymore.Always main characters betrayed by family members or girl friend. Same story's just different names.

    12. Major Ember Wyldestarrin is mad. Personally, her sister, Alura slept with Em's latest boyfriend and professionally she's assigned recently demoted royal celebrity playboy Captain Bastien Cabarro as her new wingman. As Em got her second wind to rant about Bas' many flaws, a bomb hits critical areas in and near the facility. Em rushes into the rubble to find Alura and sees her being rescued by Cabarro. While Bas' mother dotes on him, his father and siblings would trade him for a hairpin. Alura fli [...]

    13. Although I absolutely LOVED parts of this story (the new material), the majority was just a re-telling of the same scenes from previous books. Really, about 75% of this story is composed of parts from previous books. The author set up the premise of the story quite well; however, it was sadly predictable from the beginning and failed to give credence to the actions and reactions of the H and h throughout the story. The H and h were rarely together (about 25% total in the entire book) and when th [...]

    14. Romance readers will dislike that the first half of this book (which is relatively short considering its predecessor was 800+ pages of pissing and moaning) is a glorified prologue. They'll also dislike that there's a secret baby, that within a few hours of being reunited (after *8* years apart), the H/h are getting it on in an x-wing (or whatever the fighter du jour is in this particular universe.I wanted to like this book. Really, I did, because it was refreshing to be inside the heads of peopl [...]

    15. As always with any book written by Kenyon, this book was practically impossible to put down and I finished in a day! However, I do not think this was her strongest book in this series. This is for a couple reasons but mainly because her different narration choices in this book took away from her signature style.1) The prologue and first chapter were incredibly confusing because she kept jumping ahead, sometimes skipping months or a year at a time. The reader never got to witness Bastien's and Em [...]

    16. Tenth in The League: Nemesis Rising science fiction romance soap opera series and revolving around warrior outcasts, royal and otherwise, in the Ichidian Universe. The focus is on Bastien Cabarro, branded murderer and former prince of Kirovar. My TakeUsing third-person point-of-view, Born of Vengeance is a soap opera of warring, betraying characters. I wish Kenyon had included a family tree to show how everyone is related, egods. I'm not even sure this one would make sense (relationship-wise) if [...]

    17. It pains me to give this review after having loved the last book. 2.5 stars, only because I'm feeling generous after listening to the short at the end. Retelling the series from the beginning, with a different point of view, worked for Born of Legend, and in some ways it was even necessary for readers to understand Julien/Dagger. Rehashing old books in such detail, especially after the last book, didn't feel necessary here, and for me it didn't work. The new material was rushed, and I was left d [...]

    18. I really want to know how she does this, ok, not so much with the last one legend?but the few before it, in the league series and there was a couple with the dark hunter series too, with the two were brothers, when all these books were happening during the same time period. League books,it's like she wrote them all at the same time, this is bastien's story but at the same time you re-live previous events or things that happened in previous books, but this time through bastien's eyes,as one time i [...]

    19. Very disappointed. Basically the entire book was a recap of the other books in this series with just a twist here and there of something new. This really makes me sad as this was one of my favorite series.

    20. Bastien Cabarro is prince that no one in his family thinks very much of or considers worthy of notice. Bastien loves Major Ember Wyldestarrin wants a family and future with her but it's not meant to be. Ember is threatened by Bastien's father that he'll never accept Ember as Bastien's mate. Then the unthinkable happens Bastien's family is murdered and Bastien is blamed for it. Bastien vows his innocence and vengeance to anyone who will listen. Can Bastien make good on his vows? Will Bastien be p [...]

    21. Sooooo, I pre-ordered this book because SK is one of my favorite authors and in my eyes, she can do no wrong. Especially in this particular series. BUT, I was sorely disappointed with this book. It was boring, the two main characters went basically the entire middle 3/5 book without any interaction, and the whole thing seemed to be in fast forward making the timeline foggy and hard to keep up with. Some chapters and passages were labeled ___ years later, or ____ weeks later, and then some weren' [...]

    22. Gah, this was such a let down and really more of a 2.5 star read than a 3! On one hand, I found it very hard to put down, but at the same time, I felt it wasn’t worth reading! Most of the plot of this book was rehashings of the previous three novels in the series. We’re told much of the Sentella-League War battles, not actually shown anything, which I was really hoping to see. Ember and Bastien’s romance is told in flashback snippets and we don’t get a real clear picture of them falling [...]

    23. First 2/3 of book was 3 starsLast 1/3 was 1 starThere are way too many characters for me to remember, and it's confusing to have so many names slung around willy nilly of who is allied and who is fighting, blah, blah, blah. Kenyon does the usual over-the-top torture of of characters, but it's not so much of a downer as many previous books have been.

    24. Another great addition to The League Series by the master storyteller that is Sherrilyn Kenyon. She couldn't write a bad book if she tried. Kenyon is one of the few authors whose books I would buy without even knowing the storyline.

    25. This had way too many scenes from other books and not enough new content for it to be a hardcover book/price.

    26. 3,5 StarsNow that Jullian is my favourite character I'm happy to read any book with him in it, and while this story was nice, it felt a little rushed. I loved Bas and Ember, and it was really great to have the stories interlocking but I felt like it jumped past things really quickly and in the end I nothing really happened in this book. The romance was also a bit disappointing. I expected there to be hot, passion between Em and Bas once they reunited but it was quick and dispassionate. I did lov [...]

    27. Plot: 3/5Characterisation: 3/5Prose: 3/5How much I enjoyed it: 2/5The first 1/3 was good then, it went downhill As the book takes place concurrently with a lot of the previous books, there is a lot of rehashing. I get that but would it kill to simplify everything instead of a word by word? I think it's what's annoyed me most with SK's newest books. Because it seems like the main couple is not the main characters and everyone in the series universe just had to make a visit. It's such a shame as I [...]
