    1. Quick read. Fairly well written. Told in first person by the main character, Ellie, who is about 15 or 16 years old. She is the only child of a terminally-ill mother and alcoholic father. The book deals with the mature themes of parental loss and her father's physical/verbal abuses his wife and daughter. I found this at our local library. I believe it is out of print.More about the author can be found at: nancyantle/

    2. This book is out of print now maybe but easily gotten still. One of my all-time favorites. Gorgeous characterization and wonderfully spare and intense.
