    1. This adorable illustrated Three Little Pigs retelling had me smiling as the story plays out, with a few twists and turns created especially for the horses and beautiful pages that will unfold to the delights of any child.

    2. This is the first book in this series, and children will connect with it instantly as I did. It is essentially an updated version of "The Three Little Pigs," but it is so well-done that the true meaning of the story is emphasized in every way. The illustrations are ideal (I love that she writes and illustrates her books), and I highly recommend this author! One of the best children's authors I have seen in awhile.I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financia [...]

    3. In the first entry of Liana-Melissa Allen’s Horse Valley Adventures children’s book series, three equine protagonists lose their home to a fire and must depend upon themselves while wandering a forest and defending against an antagonistic donkey that wanders around wrecking other animals’ homes, the story based on “The Three Little Pigs.” The cover art depicts the three eponymous horses wandering along a path with their supply-laden wagons while the titular donkey bully secretly gazes [...]

    4. The Three Little Horses and the Big Bully Donkey was a cute read that children of all ages will enjoy and love! The book is clearly based on the Three Little Pigs story with horses and a donkey rather than pigs and a big bad wolf.I feel that The Three Little Horses and the Big Bully Donkey is less 'scary' as there is no big bad wolf, just a not so nice donkey. Additionally, the ending in The Three Little Horses and the Big Bully Donkey is more positive.I felt that the story itself lent a few good [...]

    5. My Grasshopper fell in love with Max, Lax, and Jack! I read both books in this series together, and afterwards, he wanted to go back and read the stories to me(through the pictures). I call that success! As the description states, this is somewhat of a "3 Little Pigs" retelling. I love that I was able to get a lesson in laziness out of the story, along with a lesson in bullying. Although I didn't plan it so, reading this particular story when I did worked out perfectly. A little brother had just [...]

    6. I soon realized as I was reading this book that this story is similar to the story of the Three Little Pigs. Despite the familiar story line, I found the story to be engaging and entertaining. You feel the frustration and fear of the three horse brothers as they see their home burning down and their attempt to rescue their favourite things in little wagons. However, at a time when they should be pulling together, they separate and go their own ways, which ultimately leads to disaster when the Do [...]

    7. The author put her own spin on the tale of The Three Little PigsHer characters are three horses, brothers, who’ve just lost their home to a fire. Each one sets out to build their own home. One takes the lazy way, one takes the impractical way, and one takes his timeAll of these houses might have worked accept for one thing, the big bully donkeyI wish I could share with you the illustrations for this tale. They are so fun and full of little details. I found myself taking a lot of time on each pa [...]

    8. Before I was a blogger, I spent years teaching preschool. I always looked for great read aloud books. A good read aloud will have lots of pictures that engage children, lively dialogue, and a fun, fast moving story. The Three Little Horses and the Big Bully Donkey has all these traits. It would be a perfect read aloud for a preschool child or classroom. This book is loosely based on The Three Little Pigs, and it is fun read for young children. It also has a terrific message: we are stronger when [...]

    9. The fist book in the series, The Three Little Horses and the Big Bully Donkey is a spin on the classic tale of the Three Little Pigs. Jack, Lax and Max, the three little horses, are brothers who find themselves without a home. As they go about trying to find a new location, building materials and etc. for their house, they encounter the Big Bully Donkey who takes it upon himself to thwart their new-home efforts. This book teaches great values and morals about never giving up, dealing with a bull [...]

    10. This review first appeared on my blog, Christy's Cozy Corners. We all know the story of the Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf! And there have been many books retelling this story. Each retelling is unique, yet the same theme runs through it: build a good house! Okay, maybe that isn’t the moral of the story, but it sure does help :) When the three little horses’s house burns down, they set out to build new ones to protect themselves from the bully donkey…and to have a place for their sn [...]

    11. Will I know it may seem I went backwards on my review of this one, since I did the review of the second book yesterday. But, actually this is the way I read them. After reading the second one I really wanted to go and read the first in the series. And may I say I was not disappointed. Author Liana-Melissa Allen has such a different way of getting under your skin and taking you on a journey that you really don't want to have it come to the end. Not only is her writing inspiring but the tale with [...]

    12. I read this book to my 4 1/2 year old grandson and he loved it. Having never read the Three Little Pigs this was an original story for him. The illustrations were colorful and bright, perfectly matching the story. This book opens the door to discussions on fire safety with the little ones as well as talking about what is important and what isn't. There are more lessons to be taken from this book aside from fire safety, there is also forgiveness, family sticking together and if you got a job to do [...]

    13. This book was a super fun updated version of The Three Little Pigs. What can I say? The illustrations were fantastic, the story had a much happier ending and it's perfect to be read to children or read by middle elementary age kids. I loved that the story gave multiple chances to be used as a teaching tool (fire safety, the benefit of doing things right the first time, etc). This is going to be another book that goes into the future little brother pile for the boys. We're down to only about 7 we [...]

    14. I received a free copy of this book for an honest review. The Three Little Horses and the Big Bully Donkey is a children’s book based on the three little pigs but instead there are three little horses and a big bully donkey instead of a big bad wolf. This is a cute story with great pictures. It teaches children that taking the easy way is not always the best way, as well as the importance of family and friends. It would be a good story to read aloud. This is definitely a story for young children [...]

    15. Book 1 introduces us to the three horse brothers and the mean donkey. It reminded me of the Big Bad Wolf. However I liked that this version had more animals and I enjoyed the added bees. The end of the book was also nice and I liked how the story had a good message. I am giving this book a 4/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.
